Movie Review - The Orphanage

The Orphanage is a horror movie, but it’s also touching. The story is about a woman (Laura) who was raised in an orphanage. She was then adopted by a family.

When she grows up, the orphanage closed. And after she got married, she wanted to open the orphanage again. So she and her husband bought the orphanage. They moved here with their son (Simon). Then strange things start to happen. Yes, ghosts, children ghosts.

Then Simon was missing. Everybody searched for him but couldn’t find him. Laura became frustrated, and her husband had given up. He asked Laura to leave the place, but Laura insisted that she would wait for Simon there, so her husband left her in the orphanage alone. In the end, yes, Laura met Simon again, but I won’t give you any spoiler you should see it for yourself.

For a horror movie, it’s not really frightening, although you will see the ghosts, but not too many of them. I think it’s more of a drama. How a mother won’t give up searching for her missing son, it’s very touching. And it’s even more touching in the end. This movie reminds me of The Others which was starred by Nicole Kidman.
