The Mummy is back! And now it takes you to an adventure in the ancient China. Rick and Evelyn O’Connel are already retired from the adventure world. They live happily although they actually want to have another adventure. Then there is a mission for them, to bring the Eye of the ShangriLa back to China.
Meanwhile, their son Alex, who has grown up, is already in China digging a tomb. This is the tomb of a Chinese Emperor who was a very bad person and want to conquer the world. He and his army was cursed, and when the Emperor is waken, he will also awake his army and conquer the world. And of course, the Emperor is waken, and our heroes will fight against him to prevent him take over the world. That’s the story in short.
The casts are still the same except for Maria Bello who replaces Rachel Weisz as Evelyn O’Connel. I see a lot of people miss Rachel, because Rachel has been perfect in playing Evelyn. Me personally, although I like Rachel Weisz more as Evelyn, think that Maria Bello can play the role of Evelyn quite well. Maybe it’s because we’ve been seing Rachel as Evelyn, it may be different if it was Maria who played as Evelyn in the previous series and now Rachel takes over, we may like Maria as Evelyn more. Brendan Fraser is irreplaceable, of course.
And Luke Ford who played as Alex, is really not suitable to be Brendan and Maria’s son. He looks too old to be their son. Or are Brendan and Maria are too young to be his parents? It just bothers me. You can also see two big Hong Kong stars: Jet Li as the Emperor (the bad) and Michelle Yeoh as Zi Juan, the witch (the good).
The special effects are great, as you may expect from The Mummy movies. The story is fair for me. Although language is always seem to be a problem in those Chinese-Hollywood movies. For example, Zi Juan used to speak Mandarin with her daughter, but in the end, they speak English all the time. Also, you wouldn’t expect a mummy to be in China, right?
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is the third of The Mummy series, and compared to the previous series, this one is the least that I like, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it. It’s OK, I think. For a not too serious action movie, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor can be a good choice.

LOL
BTW, I fond of action movies. And if it comes to not-too-serious ones, hey .. the Mummy series is definetly my choice (followed by the-good-slap-stick Die Hard)
Nice review here, was dropping EC actually. But since I’m being desperate for cannot see the movie, thought I’d leave a comment also.
