<img src="http://reviewland.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/31Q0MWDG6ML._SL210_.bmp" alt="standing tall by bob baldwin" title="31Q0MWDG6ML._SL210_" class="alignleft size-full wp-image-249" / style="float:left;" />Standing Tall is the latest release from Jazz Star Bob Baldwin, and is another winner from this talented musician.

It’s a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I’m more than happy to announce that’s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all.

Standing Tall has a pleasantly varied, mix of 12 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly gifted artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Clearly drawing from what I can only imagine are him own personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. They’re all here.

If you’re even mildly into Jazz music you’ll enjoy this album. Overall Standing Tall is an a great release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with one single track.

Overall Standing Tall is outstanding from beginning to end. One of those CDs that after a few listens the songs are just etched into your memory. A must have for the Jazz fan. Really spectacular from beginning to end.

While this entire album is really very good the truly standout tunes are track 3 – Too Late, track 10 – She’s Single, Ready To Mingle, and track 6 – Where Are You Going?.

My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 8 – Everybody Loves The Sunshine. What a nice track!

There are four main characters in Powder Blue. Rose Jhonny, the stripper whose son is in a coma. She works really hard to pay the hospital bills. Don’t know where the father’s boy is.

Then there’s Jack Doheny, Rose’s father. He’s been in jail for 25 years, got cancer, just got out of jail, never knew Rose before, and now finds Rose to make up his fault for leaving her. Rose never knew her father.

Qwerty Doolittle, the boy who gets sick when he’s around girls. And the last one is Charlie, the former priest who wants to be dead, but don’t have the courage to kill himself. He asks people to shoot him at his heart and he will pay the shooter 50 grand. Charlie wants to be dead because he’s very lonely, his wife got killed in a car accident, in the day of their wedding, and Charlie was driving. A priest gets married? I guess he got out of the church to get married.

The first three characters are connected. Jack is Rose’s father, and Qwerty finds Rose’s lost dog and then become friends. But Charlie really has no connection with the other characters. The only connection is when Charlie asked Qwerty to kill him. Charlie never met Jack nor Rose (or did I miss it?)

Overall, I enjoyed this movie. This is a good movie, and I enjoyed the story too. One thing though, Jessica Biel gets naked in Powder Blue, and I think this will be the movie remembered where she gets naked in Don’t expect too much though And I think a lot of people (men) will watch this movie just to see her. Charlie was played by Forest Whitaker and Jack was played by Ray Liotta.

One more thing, Patrick Swayze also starred in this movie. I really didn’t recognize him until the end of the movie where I saw the credits. I then searched the internet, and found out that he played the club owner where Rose worked. Another great cast is Lisa Kudrow, I recognized her instantly. It’s really hard to watch her play a serious role, because each time I see her, I always remember Friends and think of the Phoebe character in that TV series, which was very funny.

<img class="alignleft" title="marley_and_me_movie" src="http://reviewland.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/marley_and_me_movie.jpg" alt="marley and me movie" width="152" height="210" / style="float:left;">As you can see in the DVD cover, this movie is about a dog. But is it only about a dog? No, it’s not. I’m not a fan of movies about animal. And if I don’t see Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston as the casts, I won’t even see it.

This is the story of John, Jenny, and Marley the dog. John and Jenny was just married and they move into a new town. For a birthday present, John gave Jenny a puppy, which then named Marley by John. Surprisingly, Marley is very naughty, yet very cute and adorable. Problems arise when John and Jenny have kids. The story flows until they grow older and have 3 kids, which means Marley gets older too.

For me, Marley and Me is a very good movie. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston play their role excellently. They look like just real husband and wife. Although I think there are some parts of the movie that doesn’t correlate with the whole picture, it’s still worth seeing.

It’s romantic, it’s comedy, but it’s not an ordinary romantic comedy movie.

Olympus have designed the Mju Tough 6000 digital camera to be perfect for extreme weather conditions and rough activity. It looks rugged with a chunky, solid body made of metal and is quite a bit heavier than your usual compact camera. However, there are not many cameras that you can drop into water or on the hard floor and expect it to work still. The Mju 6000 is available in yellow, blue, orange and white with black and silver strips along the top and bottom.Fortunately, Olympus took our stylistic reservations on-board and revamped the entire look and feel of the 6000.

Available in three striking colours, this camera now looks like something you could attach to your surfboard without being laughed out of the waves. As for specifications, it’s waterproof to 3 metres, shockproof from 1.5 meters and freeze proof to -10 degrees Celsius. During our brief hands-on session, we really loved the textured exterior and comfortable operation which the design afforded. The screen at the back, while only 2.7 inches, seemed nicer than the 1050SW as well.

It’s taken most of its cues from the tougher camera — indeed, the 6000 borrows most of the 8000’s features, except for one or two things. It’s not crushproof, for starters, and only hits 10 megapixels rather than 12.Here’s the fun bit. We took great pleasure in throwing this camera around and dropping it and submersing it under water making us feel like naughty kids for a few hours, but it was great fun. The Mju Tough 6000 really didn’t care that it was being treated this way at all. The body remained in tact and original shape with no scratches, the water seems to just roll off every surface and not cloud the lens or screen at all and even shoving it in the freezer didn’t phase it.

The TAP Control features worked quite well and while this feature was on it was easy to just tap the side top change flash settings but gloves still had to come off anyway to press further buttons, although with wet hands we were still able to grip the body well and tap away. The LCD screen worked really well and was very visible in all lighting conditions. The images we took were really good too with soft edges, so probably not the best to be enlarging. Colours were vibrant with good levels of detail.

Olympus Stylus 6000 Highlights

Winning the Battle of the Blur with Dual Image Stabilization
For the first time, Dual Image Stabilization will be offered on Olympus’ cameras in the tough category. In the cold climates where Stylus Tough-6000 thrives, you may shiver, but the camera performs sure and steady even in shaking hands. Dual Image Stabilization combines two technologies–mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization and Digital Image Stabilization–to provide one powerful anti-blur solution for capturing great images whether the photographer or the subject is moving. Olympus’ mechanical Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization keeps images sharp by adjusting the internal image sensor to compensate for camera movement, even in low-light conditions when shutter speeds are slower. Additionally, Digital Image Stabilization freezes the action with high ISO sensitivity and fast shutter speeds that prevent blurry images often caused by a moving subject.

Nothing Can Shock This Tough Camera
Afraid the mountain wind might sweep a camera out of your hands and dash it on the rocks below? Never fear, the Stylus Tough-6000, available in trendy yellow, white or blue tones, can withstand a 5-foot drop thanks to the Stylus Tough series’ shock-absorbing technology, which minimizes the impact on the lens and circuitry.

Point-Dunk-and-Shoot Camera
Stylus Tough series cameras perform as well underwater as they do on land because their lightweight, stainless steel and aluminum exteriors are matched with interior rubber gaskets and O-rings to seal out the elements. The Stylus Tough-6000 can be submerged up to 10 feet underwater. The inclusion of four preset underwater scene modes makes these cameras perfect for taking photos while scuba diving, snorkeling or simply having worry-free fun in the pool. The camera also features a water-repellant lens coating to prevent water droplets from forming on the lens to get crystal-clear shots no matter how wet the shooting environment.

Freezeproof for Arctic Adventures
Whether you’re in the arctic tundra or building a snowman in your backyard, the Stylus Tough-6000 still performs when the temperature dips well below freezing (14 degrees Fahrenheit; -10 degrees Celsius). Stylus Tough series cameras continue to allow you to take great images in freezing situations where most traditional cameras would fail.

Olympus Recommended Button
The new “OR” button makes it easy to activate Olympus’ unique features, including In-Camera Panorama, Shadow Adjustment and Perfect Shot Preview. Simply press the new OR button to easily access these commonly used features.

New Beauty Mode: Supermodels Watch out!
Taking beautiful portraits in the pool or on the slopes is easy with the new Beauty Mode. It enables you to soften shadows and smooth wrinkles or blemishes on your subject’s face–all in the camera and as you capture the image! Additionally, subtle edits can be made post-capture using the Beauty Fix mode. Choose “Clear Skin” to smooth a person’s complexion, “Dramatic Eye” to slightly emphasize the eyes, and “Sparkle Eye” to brighten and enhance the contrast of the iris and pupils. You can also apply all three edits at once. Have fun customizing your brilliant images without a PC and costly image editing software.

Hit Them with Your Best Shot: Tap Control
The Stylus Tough series cameras can be controlled with a simple tap on their top, back or sides, which is made possible thanks to their internal 3D accelerometer that detects the direction of the force on the camera’s body. To turn on the flash or Shadow Adjustment Technology, all that is required is a couple of taps on the camera’s sides and top. In adverse climates Tap Control ensures fast adjustment of settings even if you are fighting frostbite wearing large gloves that make pressing traditional buttons nearly impossible.

Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Captures it All
The Stylus Tough-6000 features a 3.6x wide-angle optical zoom (28-102mm equivalent in 35mm photography, f3.5-5.0) so that even more of the subject makes it into each shot–perfect for underwater photography. The lens does not protrude from its body so it is further protected from harsh conditions.

Versatile Memory
All Olympus digital point-and-shoot cameras accept xD-Picture Card media. Starting with products available in August 2008, they also accept microSD memory cards to capture images. The new Stylus Tough cameras offer the flexibility to use either xD-Picture Card or microSD memory cards, which is just one more advantage of Olympus point-and-shoot cameras.

Advanced HyperCrystal III LCD
The next generation of Olympus’ LCD technology–HyperCrystal III–displays twice as bright as previous versions so that you can see the details more clearly, even in direct sunlight. The new technology is offered on Stylus Tough-6000 in a 2.7-inch LCD.

Can’t Hide with Face Detection!
Portrait and group shots make family reunions live beyond the short event, and with Face Detection you’ll capture even the shyest relatives. The Stylus Tough-6000 detects up to 16 faces within the frame and automatically focuses and optimizes exposure to capture sharp, brilliant portraits and group shots. Thanks to the unrivaled durability of the Stylus Tough series cameras, you’ll capture amazing photos even if your next family reunion is at a National Park, a water park or a ski slope!

Intelligent Auto Thinks for You
Skating at night? You won’t be the last one on the ice thanks to Intelligent Auto Mode. It automatically identifies what you are shooting (i.e. Portrait, Night + Portrait, Landscape, Macro and Sports) and adjusts the camera’s settings to capture the best quality results. First-time users can jump into this quick and hassle-free feature that does the thinking for them and produces incredible images.

Broaden Your Horizons with In-Camera Panorama
The places you can take Stylus Tough series cameras–the Grand Canyon or the volcanic sand beaches of Hawaii–are locations where you want to capture as much of the scene as you can. In-Camera Panorama mode makes it possible by capturing three images and stitching them together to create one amazing panoramic picture. Simply press the shutter button and slowly pan across a panoramic scene. The second and third images will be captured automatically and stitched together with the first image — resulting in one seamless panorama-size picture. To create the ultimate panoramic picture, consumers can use the Olympus Master Software 2 to stitch up to 10 images together.

Shadow Adjustment Technology
Shooting outdoors in bright daylight can be tricky because of the extreme contrast between dark shadowed areas and bright sunlit areas. While the human eye is capable of detecting the nuances between dark and light and all the details in between, image sensors traditionally have not been quite as sensitive. The Stylus Tough series addresses this challenge head-on with Shadow Adjustment Technology, which compensates for extreme contrast where the shadow areas are underexposed and lack visible detail. With this technology, users can preview and capture images with the same contrast as the naked eye.

Perfect Shot Preview
The Stylus Tough series features a Perfect Shot Preview mode that enables users to preview and select various photographic effects on a live, multi-window screen before snapping the shot. Perfect Shot Preview enables users to see precisely what the image will look like when adjustments are made, ensuring users are capturing the exact image they want. It is an ideal way for novice users to learn about the effects of different photography techniques, such as zoom, exposure compensation, white balance and metering.

Perfect Fix In-Camera Editing
The Stylus Tough series offers Red-Eye Fix and Shadow Adjustment Edit, in-camera editing features such as resizing, and saturation adjustments, enabling users to edit photos right in the camera. With the Perfect Fix function, multiple editing features can be applied at once.

LED Illuminator
An LED Illuminator on the Stylus Tough series cameras works like a mini-flashlight on the front of the camera to enhance focus and exposure for macro shooting–great for underwater close-ups where light is scarce. The LED also works in conjunction with Bright Capture to help illuminate your subject when taking low-light portraits.

TruePic III Image Processor
Olympus’ enhanced TruePic III Image Processor produces crystal-clear photos using all the pixel information for each image to deliver superior picture quality with more accurate colors, true-to-life flesh tones and faster processing speeds. TruePic III captures sharp images at high ISO settings, minimizing image noise or grainy photos traditionally associated with shooting with high ISO.

Olympus Master 2 Software
Olympus Master 2 Software provides the ultimate in digital imaging management. An intuitive user interface makes downloading to your computer quick and simple, and images are easily organized by folders or albums and searchable by date in Calendar view. A direct link makes uploading your images and videos to YouTube easier than ever. Additionally, with one-click editing tools, such as red-eye removal, images can be touched up before printing or emailing. Online support, templates, firmware upgrades and other user services are just a mouse-click away. Use the optional muvee Theater Pack to create professional quality slide shows and DVDs from your pictures using any of several built-in templates. Additionally, create scrapbooks, greeting cards and other fun prints using the optional ArcSoft Print Creations plug-in.

What’s in the Box

1. Wrist strap
2. Camera WIN/Mac USB cable
3. Audio/video cable
4. LI-50B Li-Ion rechargeable battery
5. LI-50C charger for the STYUS Tough-6000

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) doesn’t expect much when she moves to the small town of Forks, Washington, until she meets the mysterious and handsome Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) – a boy who’s hiding a dark secret: he’s a vampire. As their worlds and hearts collide, Edward must battle the bloodlust raging inside him as well as a coterie of undead that would make Bella their prey. Based on the #1 New York Times best-selling sensation by Stephenie Meyer, Twilight adds a dangerous twist to the classic story of star-crossed lovers.

Twilight the MovieThe big-screen adaptation of Twilight, Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling vampire romance, is aimed squarely at its key demographic: teen girls whose idea of Prince Charming is a brooding, pale, undead teen who could kill you instantly at any moment. Such a prince is more fascinating than frightening to new girl Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart), who moves to the rainy-gray town of Forks, Wash., to live with her dad (Billy Burke), the local sheriff who’s puzzled by a series of “animal attacks.” On her first day at school, Bella appears to (visibly) nauseate her lab partner, Edward (Robert Pattinson).

Twilight the MovieTwilight the Movie
Turns out the scent of her blood is this vampire’s “brand of heroin,” and his struggle not to kill her causes an irresistible pull toward her. Whether he’s attracted for the normal reasons or because she smells especially sweet to him is vague in the book and even less clear on-screen; nonetheless, Bella falls hopelessly in love with Edward, which sets her on a dangerous path when a few nomad vampires show up in town, one particularly keen on tracking the human.

Twilight the MovieTwilight the Movie
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke (Thirteen), Twilight is full of funny moments – not all of which are intentional – and the casting, from Stewart to Bella’s self-absorbed friend Jessica (Anna Kendrick) is spot-on. The weakest link, unfortunately, is Pattinson. While he certainly looks the part, his Edward could have used an extra injection of testosterone (Pattinson, who is British, used James Dean as a model for his American accent). In scenes where he growls about the temptation to kill those who would harm Bella, or flitting around a forest warning her how dangerous he is, he comes off more like a whimpering puppy than a debonair monster. The good news is, his chemistry with Stewart (particularly in their big kissing scene) is palpable, which, let’s face it, is really what matters to Twilight fans most.

twilight the movieTwilight the Movie
The special features for Twilight kick off with an audio commentary with director Catherine Hardwicke and stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. There’s some mumbling and groaning from Stewart (one gets the impression that Stewart is quite similar to her reserved character in the film), some standard behind-the-scenes observations from Hardwicke, and a lot of awkward self-deprecating remarks from Pattinson (of their big kiss, he opines: “This is quite difficult ’cause I have a really flat head, and so it’s quite difficult to get a correct angle.”).

twilight the movieTwilight the Movie
What’s funny is Pattinson stumping Hardwicke with some basic plot questions, like “Why doesn’t James just kill [Bella when she's packing at her house]?” While Hardwicke and Stewart attempt to answer, Pattinson doesn’t appear satisfied. The deleted and extended scenes include an additional dream-sequence kiss (rightly cut because it took away from the buildup to their first kiss) and more footage of Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre). The seven-part documentary is a pretty thorough look at the development of the film, including stunts, special effects, and the involvement of author Stephenie Meyer.

Another featurette looks at the Comic-Con frenzy; however, it spends no time on how the actors were cast, which would have been fun for fans who did all their own mental casting while reading the books. Also included: three music videos and trailers.

Eden Lake is a horror / thriller movie that I really enjoy watching.

It all started when Steve took his fiance Jenny to a vacation on the weekend in a remote lake, Eden Lake. Using a car, they went to Eden Lake. The lake is very beautiful, and it was going to be a very nice vacation. Then, on the lake, they met a group of young local teenagers. At first Steve and Jenny were fine with those teenagers, but later they feel disturbed.

Here’s when the tense begins. The teenagers play around with Steve and Jenny. And they do bad, really bad things. I wouldn’t give you any spoiler by telling you what they did to Steve and Jenny, you really should watch it. But I can tell that these are no ordinary teenagers and you will see some violence.

You will feel sorry, bad, sad and angry while watching this movie. How Steve and especially Jenny struggle to fight the teenagers and to get out of the bad situations, then you’ll be relieved, and then tense again. And, oh ok I’ll just give you one spoiler, I hate the movie’s ending.

Some customers’ reviews:

This watch slayed me when I saw it in the Fossil outlet. I had already splurged on a Movado, but I saw this one and had to have it too. Anyway, this has quickly become a favorite for daily wear to the office. It is definitely a head turner. What I love about it is that it’s not as heavy as my other Twist-movement watch, even though the size is comparable.

Ignore comments about this watch not keeping accurate time if not worn constantly – the only part of this watch that is “Twist” is the second-hand dial on the left, which is powered by body motion. The actual watch movement itself is battery-powered. — Jonathan

I gave this watch to my husband for Christmas. He likes it. The sharp look and large dial were just what he wanted. What the product descriptions don’t say is that the wearer of this watch needs to wear it often for it to keep correct time (it is mostly powered by the movement of the wearer). My husband wears his old watch to work and wears this one when he/we go out. It usually has the wrong time or is slow because he doesn’t wear it often enough. This is a nice green feature, but is a bit frustrating. — Christina
